THE EMPTYING OF THE ANDES
There is a very quiet and subtle migration taking place in Peru. It is a phenomenon that has continued incessantly for years, and is emptying the Andes mountains of men and women who are leaving their lands under the illusion of a better future.
With the mirage of a new life, a solid job and financial security, and with the appeal of the facilities, comforts and attractions of modern life, the people of the Peruvian "Sierra" are leaving the mountains for the big cities in search of fortune in this “rural-urban migration”.
The population of the Sierra is slowly being divided: the elderly who have grown up without the lure of the cities remain in the highlands, while the young people run away to the coast, 4000 m below. For them this represents an incredible change of life.

L’oppio è una delle droghe più antiche del mondo, usata dall’uomo fin dall’alba dei tempi.
Si ricava incidendo le capsule all’apice della maturazione del Papaver somniferum, una pianta che cresce spontanea in Asia e in Europa.
La Birmania, prima dell’arrivo degli occidentali in Afghanistan, era il maggior produttore di
Oppio, che esportava insieme all’ eroina in grande quantità in tutta l’Asia.
Con la ripresa del commercio con il resto del mondo, la Birmania ha ricominciato fortemente a produrre ed esportare questa sostanza. Questo rilancio ha portato, soprattutto nelle zone piu’ povere e isolate, ad un incremento del consumo, che va raddoppiando quasi ogni anno. Se da un lato è l’unica fonte di sostentamento per i contadini, dall’altro la dipendenza dall’oppio sta creando dei danni irreparabili nel tessuto sociale birmano e nelle nazioni vicine, come la regione del Nagaland in india. Tra le zone piu’ colpite da questa piaga, c è il distretto di Mon, dove il confine Indiano si incontra con quello Birmano.

THE ICE TEAM
Myanmar Fish Market
Inside the fish market of Yangoon (Myanmar), there is a specific work team that is responsible for supplying the entire market with the precious ice, that is used to keep the fish cool caught ready for sale.
The work is exhausting, relentlessly, and without the necessary protections.
The great and heavy ice blocks ice are managed barefoot or with slippers without protective helmets, moved by hand, and the most dangerous thing crushed in very dangerous machinery.
FAMILY IN THE PANDEMIC
This project chronicles the life of my family during the Covid-19 pandemic. The fear and isolation at home during the lockdown, the distance learning of children, the decision to have a new child during the pandemic, pregnancy, and childbirth, all accompanied by the inevitable protective mask, symbol of this time.

Gli ultimi tagliatori di teste del Nagaland (2017)
Il Nagaland è uno stato del nord-est dell’india, situato al confine con il Myanmar.
Quasi impenetrabile, circondato da una fitta vegetazione e da montagne scoscese, è difficile da raggiungere per la quasi assenza di strade asfaltate, rimanendo isolato per anni, sembra una nazione a se stante.
In questa zona si è sviluppata la cultura degli Head Hunter, i tagliatori di teste dell’India, un temibile manipolo di uomini, normalmente cacciatori-guerrieri, che si distinguevano nei loro villaggi per le azioni in battaglia, per l’efferatezza con la quale conquistavano i nemici, e soprattutto per la loro “particolare” tradizione rituale: tagliare la testa dei propri nemici, come trofeo di guerra durante gli scontri con i villaggi e le tribù vicine.

il tè è la bevanda piu' diffusa del mondo dopo l'acqua, tracce del suo consumo risalgono a oltre 5000 anni fa. A differenza degli enormi profitti delle grandi multinazionali del Tè, le piantagioni e la coltivazione intensiva stanno creando disboscamento e una forte deforestazione , con ingenti danni per l'ambiente. Le condizioni delle lavoratrici del Tè, in Assam e nel Nord Est dell'india sono incredibilmente difficili. Le "Chai Kuli" (Lavoratrici del Tè) lavorano precariamente per le grandi compagnie del Tè, per 1,50$ 6giorni su 7 con qualsiasi condizioni climatica, scalze e lontano dalle famiglie. In queste zone si registra un elevato numero di mortaità materna, malnutrizione e povertà.

I Naga Baba sono la massima espressione dell'ascetismo indiano, da tempo immemorabile infatti, alcuni uomini decidono di lasciare ogni cosa, famiglia, lavoro, villaggio, averi, mogli, ecc per estraniarsi dal mondo, rifugiandosi sulle vette dell' Himalaya, o in qualche foresta isolata, per intraprendere un viaggio introspettivo alla ricerca del proprio Se'.
Questi yogi osservano severe austerità', dette "tapasya" in sanscrito, digiunano per giorni, praticano il controllo del respiro, il "pranayama" e dei propri sensi, si astengono dalla vita sessuale, e si impongono severe mortificazioni corporee, al limite del fachirismo. Sono completamente nudi, coperti solo di cenere, simbolo di morte e rinascita e della rinuncia alla vita materiale, cenere, usata anche come un potente isolante energetico per aumentare la potenza delle loro profonde meditazioni.

In many parts of the world is possible to find variations of style of wrestling, in India the traditional wrestling called pehlwani and in its more traditional pure style: Malla-Yuddha. (from sanskrit Malla: athlete and Yuddha: Battle, fight, war)

Among the mountains of the Cordillera of the Andes, at 3500 meters above sea level, there are those who for the sake of others, dedicating their free time to volunteer work. One of the examples iare Yaki and Lourdes, two girls studying to become midwives, who spend all their free Wednesday to the poorest people of the region. They leave early in the morning with two backpacks full of food and materials of first comfort , and walking hours to visit the first house. In these areas, in the mountains, there are people who live in isolation, far more kilometers from the village 'neighbor, who for different reasons have found themselves alone, helpless, sick and forgotten by the world, not by Yaki and Lourdes.

The Kumbh Mela, is a mass Hindu pilgrimage, a spiritual festival, considered to be the world's largest religious gathering. The Guiness Book of World Records states that festival, longer than three months, will see the largest number of human beings assemble with a common purpose. More than 50 million peoples comes in Haridwar this year, According to the authorities, The people says more 200 million. The pilgrimage occurs three times every twelve years, when the planet Jupiter enters Aquarius and the Sun enters Aries. Each twelve-year cycle includes the Maha (great) Kumbha Mela, this year Haridwar. According the Hindu religion, souls are reborn after death in a continuous cycle know as Karma, the liberation of this cycle is called Moksha. The Kumbh Mela pilgrimage can have a profound impact on the next life and the cycle of rebirth. Every Hindu wish to wash away their sins in the Holy Gange.

La 'Ndocciata
Agnone (IS) La 'Ndocciata - il rito del fuoco più grande del mondo. Come ogni 8 Dicembre si svolge ad Agnone (Is), la Ndocciata. Tradizione antichissima che si perde nei riti pagani ma ancora viva nella popolazione. I portatori accendono le ndocce (torce) e si incamminano lungo il corso principale del paese, che diviene cosi’ un gigantesco ed emozionante fiume di fuoco, fino ad arrivare nella piazza dove un grande falò accoglierà le ndoccie, cancellando così tutte le negatività dell' anno passato.
